Decline in Morals and Values
The decline in morals and values was one factor of the fall of Rome. At this point in time, Romans no longer valued human life. One reason was because the crime and violence made cities highly unsafe. This meant that many people didn't feel safe leaving their house at night. If they left at night, they could have been robbed or attacked, sometimes both. Many times emperors spent money on parties and drinking adjacent to paying for their citizen's benefit. This made bad influences on citizens. It also used the money in a non-moral way. In other words, the emperors used the taxes to please themselves, and not their subjects. Also, gladiator games at the coliseum involving wild men and wild animals were violent and bloody. The Romans were very cruel to people lower than them. Almost every Roman would gather in the coliseum to watch someone die! For fun! As you can see, the decline in morals and values was a leading factor to the fall of Rome.
