Political Corruption-Jordan Chavez

                                      Political Corruption

Political corruption was, indeed, the main reason for the decline of the Roman Empire. One of the problems during the corruption was when choosing a new emperor. "The Romans never created an effective system to determine how new emperors would be selected." That's why they chose the old Emperor, the senate, the praetorian Guard, and the army to debate who the new Emperor should be. This system worked fairly well for some time, however, in the beginning of AD 186, when the army strangled the new Emperor, they began selling the throne to whoever paid the most money for it. The next 100 years, Rome had 37 different Emperors, however 25 of these emperor were removed from office by assassination.
